Yoav
Yoav is an Isreali-born, South African-raised singer-songwriter. Creating most of his music solely with his voice and acoustic guitar, melodies and beats are coaxed out of the guitars body and, with the help of several loop stations, layered to form an organic tapestry that at times resemble electronic break beats. This connection was most apparent in his 2007 debut single "Club Thing", which despite its acoustic roots was embraced and remixed by Electro DJ/producers the likes of Funkerman, RAC and Aaron LaCrate.
Opening for Tori Amos on the North American leg of her 93-show American Doll Posse Tour in 2007, it set the stage for his critically-acclaimed debut album Charmed And Strange (2008), which led to his own world tour that saw Yoav perform sold-out shows in the US, Canada and Europe.
Preparing for his follow-up, Yoav spent time in South Africa, London and Venice Beach, California writing songs and working with producer Joey Waronker (Thom Yorke, Beck, Smashing Pumpkins, R.E.M.). A Foolproof Escape Plan was released in 2010 and supported by an extensive world tour that saw Yoav returning to Cape Town for a performance at The Assembly.
