It’s finally here! JIP and MK Rockspaaider is the biggest Afrikaans battle-of-the-bands competition in South Africa.

Over 40 bands entered this competition in the hopes of owning the Rockspaaider title for 2010.
 
How does it work?
 
Bands compete nationally in knock-out rounds, which start on Friday 23 July in Potchefstroom and ends on 28 August in Johannesburg.
All the performances will be filmed and recorded and a pannel of 8 members will then decide on the top-8 bands.

The reality series, Rockspaaider will be aired on MK and viewers will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite band.

The 4 bands with the least votes will be eliminated, other 4 bands will travel to the Aardklop Arts Festival,  where another band will be voted out.

The 3 remaining bands will attend a bootcamp and learn more about music, marketing etc.

These 3 bands have to promote and organise their own event in their home town. The band with the most people to attend their event will secure their place in the final top 2.
 
The Live final will take place on 11 December.
 
The bands that will take part in the knock-out rounds at The Assembly on 14 August are:
Muzik-Keyz, Luckhoff High School, Stellenbosch
A-Klas Kandidaat, Parel Vallei High School, Somerset West
Helder Hoop Outeniqua High School, George
In Memory of Tears, D.F. Malan High School and Elkanah House in Bellville and Blouberg
The Sellouts, Paul Roos Gimnasium in Stellenbosch and
Diefwering,  Punt High School,  Mosselbaai.

Weer tyd vir JIP en MK Rockspaaider

Dis uiteindelik hier! Ja, vanjaar gaan die nuutste talent dit regoor die land dit uitspook vir die Rockspaaider-titel.

Rockspaaider, aangebied deur JIP en MK, het vanjaar meer as 40 inskrywings van groepe landwyd ontvang en die doel van die kompetisie is om die beste nuwe Afrikaanse groepe in die land te vind.
‘n Paneel wys die top-8 bands nasionaal aan waarna MK-kykers se stemme begin tel en die groepe sal stelselmatig minder word.
Die top-drie bands sal  ‘n werksessie bywoon waar hulle meer oor die musiekbedryf sal leer.
Daarna sal die bands onder meer hulself moet bemark en konserte in hul tuisdorpe reël, wat sal bepaal watter twee groepe na die eindronde deurdring.
Nadat hulle in dié ronde opgetree het, sal die nasionale wenner aangekondig word.

Die uitdunne begin op 23 Julie in Potchefstroom en sal op 28 Augustus in Johannesburg eindig.
Die uitdunne in die Wes-Kaap word op 14 Augustus in The Assembly in Kaapstad gehou waar Van Coke Kartel en Baarmoedergevoel ook sal sorg vir meer rock-klanke.

Die volgende groepe sal aan die uitdunne deelneem:
Muzik-Keyz van die Hoërskool Luckhoff in Stellenbosch,
A-Klas Kandidaat van die Hoër skool Parel Vallei in Somerset-Wes,
Helder Hoop van die Hoërskool Outeniqua in George,
In Memory of Tears van die Hoërskole D.F. Malan en Elkanah House in Bellville en Blouberg,
The Sellouts van Paul Roos Gimnasium in Stellenbosch en
Diefwering van die Hoërskool Punt in Mosselbaai.
