Are you looking forward to this Saturday? We are – and not just because its our Big Birthday Bash, but because we got two of our favourite South African groups, Ashtray Electric and Gazelle, live and on stage. And that’s not all…

For the past few months Ashtray Electric have been steadily working on their sophomore album, Measured In Falls, due early 2011. Noticing that one of their tracks could use a little afro-funk-fusion, they contacted South African prodigal son and New York CIty resident Gazelle to inject some of his special flavour. With recording happening between two continents,  "Release" was finished and submitted to 5fm’s polls, where it recieved a 90% Hot rating from listeners.

The music video for "Release" premiers on Saturday at The Assembly’s Big Birthday Bash, which features footage recorded at the venue. Also performing at the event are one-man-band-man Jeremy Loops & Co., Popskarr producer Lapse, and DJs Tommy Gun vs Haasbroek. Presale tickets are available online now.
